Cornejo Earns Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Honor

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. —  Cal Lutheran's Grace Cornejo earned the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar award for the 2019-20 season. The sophomore has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.55 and is working on a degree in chemistry.  

Cornejo (Bakersfield, Calif.) is the second Regal to earn the honor. She joins Lauren Fesler as she had the distinction in 2018 and '19. In her first two years with the Purple & Gold, she has emerged as a weapon. She is a member of the team's that set the two highest 18-hole rounds in CLU history with 294 and 301 strokes. She also helped the Regals set the top two records for 36-hole score with 605 and 608. Her best finish over the two years was a tie for 11th, which she accomplished twice. 

A total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, with the minimum cumulative GPA being 3.50. 

The WGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. It was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
