Regals 13th in Preseason Golfstat Rankings

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. —  The Cal Lutheran women's golf team is ranked No. 13 in the nation for Division III in the first Golfstat rankings of the 2019-20 season.

The site bases the rankings on a wide array of statistics against all teams and then against top-25 competition. On top of being No. 13, three Regals rank in the top-45, individually.

"I am very proud of our women's team, they have had a record breaking fall season," said head golf coach Jeff Lindgren. "We have a great returning team that includes Brooke Logsdon, Erica Mitchell, Hannah Pasco, Grace Cornejo and Chloe Barnes. We also added some great new freshman talent with Claire Cornejo."

Against the nation, Cal Lutheran has a comparative record of 176/190, a relative percentage of 90.50 and an adjusted scoring average of 77.92. During the fall season, the Regals were impressive and placed fourth or better in all three tournaments with a third-place finish coming in their last tournament.

C. Cornejo leads the way for the Regals and is ranked 22nd in the nation for Division III. Logsdon and Mitchell made it three Cal Lutheran golfers in the top-45 as they rank 31st and 42nd, respectively. G. Cornejo also made the list for top golfers in the nation and is 138th

"The team started off by breaking a school record in September at Olivas Links G.C., with 307-301-608 and Claire broke an individual school 36-hole record at the same event with a score of 74-73-147," Lindgren said. "Also in same event, Brooke shot 76-75-151 to move into a tie for sixth on the all-time 36-hole list.

"The following week at the Bulldog Classic, the team went back-to-back, breaking the 36-hole team record with 311-294-605. Logsdon move into No. 2 in the individual 36-hole record book with a 74-74-148 and Erica moved into a tie for fourth with 82-68-150. Erica's 68 was the lowest individual round in school history and the team's 294 also was the lowest team score ever.

"The Regals played in three tournaments this fall and had a team average of 311.76, setting another school record in the fall season. Previous school record was 324.65 in 2017-18."

Cal Lutheran resumes competition in the spring with the Point Loma Invitational on Feb. 3-4 in San Diego, Calif.
