Regals Ready to Compete for SCIAC Championship in 2020

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The 2020 season is upon us, and Cal Lutheran women's golf enters the spring campaign as the No. 13 team in the nation, according to Golfstat's rankings.

The team will rely on senior and upper classmen leadership, and also welcomes newcomers, as the Regals look to compete for a SCIAC Championship in 2020. Five returners are joined by five newcomers and the team is ready to make some noise.

"We are looking forward to the spring season, led by our team captains, Hannah Pasco and Chloe Barnes," said head golf coach Jeff Lindgren. "After a very successful fall season we are ready for an exciting spring."

The quartet that makes up the senior class is Barnes, Pasco, Brooke Logsdon and Erica Mitchell. All four have gained experience during the past years and look for one last shot at the SCIAC crown.

Barnes, Mitchell and Pasco have golfed the past three years while Logsdon is in her second season with the Purple and Gold.

Each has their own accomplishments, on top of the team's. Last year, Barnes had a best finish of fourth and tied for 11th twice and Mitchell placed in the top-10 three times. In 2017-18, Pasco turned in eighth and ninth-place performances while Logsdon placed sixth at a tournament last year.

The junior class has zero and the sophomore class is just Grace Cornejo. Cornejo saw plenty of action as a freshmen and played in eight tournaments with her best finish being a tie for 11th.

The freshmen class saw success in the fall and looks to build on that momentum as Anna BelloClaire CornejoElizabeth KingGrace Mitchell and Tara Ng continue their first season with the Purple and Gold.

The season gets underway Feb. 3-4, as Cal Lutheran travels to San Diego, Calif., for the Point Loma University Invitational.
