Regals Sit in Fourth Place After First Leg of SCIAC Championships

SAN DIMAS, Calif. —  Cal Lutheran had a great showing at the first leg of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships, as they sit in fourth place. The Regals shot 65-over-par in the 36 holes of competition and they were led by Claire Cornejo who finished tied for 12th at 14-over-par. (Par of 72)

The SCIAC Championships consist of seven rounds of golf, at three different locations. The SCIAC #1 was the first leg and played Saturday and Sunday. The next 36 holes are on April 4-5 and the final three rounds are April 26-28.

C. Cornejo led the CLU with her two-round score of 158. She recorded an 80 on Saturday and tallied a 78 on the tournament's final day, showing improvement from day one.

Tara Ng also improved her score on day two of the competition, shooting an 81 on the first day and a 79 on the second. She finished with a two-round score of 160 and is currently tied for 17th

Coming in just one stroke behind Ng was Brooke Logsdon, recording an 80 on day one in San Dimas, Calif. and an 81 on the final day. She goes into the clubhouse with a score of 161 and is tied for 20th going into SCIAC #2.

Also finishing just one stroke behind her teammate was Erica Mitchell with her score of 162. The senior tied the lowest round by a Regal with a 78 on the first day but struggled on day two, shooting an 84 to finish tied for 22nd.

Rounding out the competition for Cal Lutheran was Hannah Pasco, shooting a 193 over two rounds.

Redlands holds the team lead with their team score of 596 (+20). Hannah Jugar of the Bulldogs holds the top spot as an individual shooting a pair of 69's to finish with a 36-hole score of 138 (-6).

Up next for the Regals is the Schreiner University Spring Shootout on March 9 at 8 a.m. in San Antonio, Tex.
