Regals Tee Up 2020 Schedule

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's golf team looks to build off a strong fall season as the Regals are set for a 2020 grind against tough competition.

The Purple and Gold placed fourth or better in all three tournaments in the fall as they climbed as high as No. 13 in Golfstat's rankings. CLU's top finish of the fall came at the George Fox Invitational as the Regals took home third.

"We had a great fall season with a team stroke average of 311.6," said head coach Jeff Lindgren. "This is the lowest in school history.

"We are excited about our spring tournament schedule which will include trips to San Diego, Palm Springs & San Antonio. We will also host our seventh annual CLU Regals Invitational at Sunset Hills CC. This spring will give the team a great chance to compete for a SCIAC Championship.

The spring season gets underway as the Regals travel to San Diego, Calif., for the Point Loma University Invitational from Feb. 3-4.

They only have one more competition in February as the Cal Lutheran gets its first taste of conference play. The SCIAC #1 is hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in San Dimas, Calif., at the Via Verde C.C., on Feb. 22-23. The SCIAC Champion is determined by seven rounds of golf throughout the SCIAC No. 1, No. 2 and the SCIAC Championships.

In March, the Regals have three non-conference tournaments with the Schreiner Spring Shootout (9-10), they host the CLU Regals Invitational (16-17) and then travel to the Redlands Invitational (30-31).

The Regals jump back into conference play with the final five rounds of the SCIAC Championships in April. Chapman is hosting the SCIAC #2 in Tustin, Calif., on the 4-5, while La Verne is hosting the SCIAC Championship on the 26-28.

The winner of the SCIAC Championships receives an automatic bid the NCAA Division III tournament.
