Fesler, Gaskill Tie for Fifth; Lead Regals to Fourth-Place Finish

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Lauren Fesler and Ally Gaskill tied for fifth as the duo led the Cal Lutheran Regals golf team to a fourth-place finish at their own CLU Regals Invitational which was held Monday and Tuesday at Sunset Hills Country Club.

The tournament featured eight teams and 46 individuals. The golfers played 18 holes on each day and the Par was 72. 

The duo of Fesler and Gaskill fired a 22-over-par as they tied for fifth with 166 strokes. They both shot an 84 on Monday and improved with an 82 on Tuesday. They helped the Regals finish fourth or better for the third time this year. 

Grace Cornejo and Chloe Barnes rounded out the team score. Cornejo tied for 11th at 26-over-par and she shot an 85 in both rounds. Barnes tied for 39th at 49-over-par and with 193 strokes (99-94).

The Violet and Gold finished 111-over-par with 687 strokes. They shot 344 on Monday and 343 Tuesday. 

Cal Lutheran had six more golfers compete individually. Erica Mitchell made it four Regals in the top-11. She tied for ninth at 25-over-par (83-86-169).

Erica Cornelius tied for 23rd at 34-over-par (90-88-178), Brooke Logsdon tied for 28th at 38-over-par (89-93-162), Bryttney Avella was 35th at 46-over-par (95-95-190), Bailey Runchey was 43rd at 56-over-par (99-101-200) and Kate Caviezel was 44th at 57-over-par (105-96-201).

The Regals continue the season at the Redlands Invitational. Cal Lutheran will play at the Indian Springs Golf Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
