WHITTIER, Calif. — Brendon Carbullido won the triple jump to lead California Lutheran University on day two of the 2022 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Track and Field Championships.
Whittier hosted the event which was held Saturday and Sunday. The Kingsmen finished eighth with 29 points.
The day was highlighted by Carbullido and his mark in the triple jump. Carbullido cleared a distance of 13.83 meters which is the ninth-longest in program history. He claimed the event and was the Kingsmen's lone SCIAC Champion.
Jake MacKinnon, Connor Judd and the 4x400 relay team added to the team's point total.
MacKinnon took fourth in the shot put with 13.70 meters, Judd was seventh in the high jump as he cleared 1.82 meters and the 4x400 relay team of Noah Gaudi, Luke VanKeersbilck, Judd and Max Segeberg were ninth with 3:35.10.
Top finishers in other events for the Kingsmen were Sebastian Sawyer as he was 17th in the 5000 meter run with 15:31.41 and Easten Simpson placed 18th in the javelin with 33.18 meters.
The Kingsmen have more chances to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Cal Lutheran is at the Occidental Invite on Saturday at 11 a.m.
