MacKinnon Wins Two Events at SCIAC Multi-Dual #3; Sawyer Cracks Top-10 List

CLAREMONT, Calif. — California Lutheran University men's track and field competed in its third conference event of the season at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3 on Saturday. Pomona-Pitzer hosted the event as the Kingsmen competed against Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands and Whittier. 

Jake MacKinnon continued his dominant year in throwing events and won two events. He took the hammer with 43.52 meters and the shot put with 13.45 meters. He also competed in the discus and was the runner-up with 40.09 meters. 

The Kingsmen finished in the top 10 in nine more events. Noah Gaudi and Xavier Reynoso were both sixth in their events. Gaudi ran the 200 meter dash in 23.24 seconds and Reynoso competed in the 400 meter hurdles with 1:09.80. 

Sebastian Sawyer made it to the podium for his event and Connor Judd just missed top-three. Sawyer ran the 3000 meter steeplechase and finished with a time of 9:48.29, placing him eighth on Cal Lutheran's all-time top-10 list. Judd took fourth in the high jump and cleared 1.75 meters. 

Luke VanKeersbilck, Judd and Chris Noji each placed seventh in their events. VanKeersblick recorded a time of 2:01.06 in the 800 meter run, Noji had a distance 11.20 meters in the triple jump and Judd recorded a length of 34.44 meters in the javelin. 

Jonathan Aguilar, Brendon Carbullido and Gaudi rounded out the group with top marks for the Kingsmen. Carbullido and Gaudi both placed eighth and Aguilar was 10th. Carbullido had a length of 5.58 meters in the long jump, Gaudi had a time of 11.39 in the 100 meter dash and Aguilar recorded 4:20.43 in the 1500 meter run.

The Kingsmen also competed in two relays and took third in each one. Gaudi, Carbullido, Noji and Hasant Moses-Hillman finished with a time of 44.66 in the 4x100 meter relay and Eric Talbert, VanKeersbilck, Max Segeberg and Judd recorded a time of 3:43.68 in the 4x400 meter relay. 

Cal Lutheran fell to Whittier 92-55, Pomona-Pitzer 109-45 and Redlands 130-31. 

The Kingsmen continue the season at the SCIAC Championships. The meet is scheduled for April 30 and May 1.
