MOORPARK, Calif. — California Lutheran University men's track & field opened its 2022 campaign and won two events at the Moorpark College Open on Friday.
Cooper Curtin and Brendon Carbullido both claimed an event to start the year. Curtin won the pole vault as he cleared 4.08 meters while Carbullido outjumped the competition in the triple jump with a distance of 4.08m.
Jake MacKinnon competed in three throwing events and made the podium in all three. He placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.07m. He also placed third in the hammer throw and discus with distances of 39.35m and 38.25m, respectively.
The Kingsmen had two more podium finishes. Noah Gaudi and Connor Judd both placed third. Gaudi raced to a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with 23.53 while Judd reached 1.70m in the high jump.
Cal Lutheran is off next weekend before getting back into action on Feb. 19. The Kingsmen are at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers which starts at 10:30 a.m.
