MacKinnon Runner-Up in Discus to Lead Kingsmen at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. — The California Lutheran University men's track and field team competed at the 34th annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at the Strehle Track on the campus of Pomona College on Saturday. 

Jake MacKinnon led the way as he finished runner-up in the discus. He threw for a distance of 38.98 meters and claimed silver. MacKinnon competed in two more events. He was fifth in the hammer with 38.26m and 10th in the shot put with 11.46m. 

The Kingsmen saw Brendon Carbullido and Connor Judd both place eighth in their respective events. Carbullido had a distance of 13.26m in the triple jump and Judd cleared a height of 1.75m in the high jump. 

Easten Simpson had the top performance for Cal Lutheran in the javelin. He placed 14th as he threw for a distance of 36.43m.  

Putting up the top mark in other events was Noah Gaudi in the 100 meter dash (23rd, 11.39) and the 200 meter dash (33rd, 23.44), Sebastian Sawyer in the 1,500 meter run (45th, 4:09.01) and Max Segeberg in the 800 meter run (52nd, 2:05.84).

The Kingsmen also competed in one relay. Gaudi, Carbullido, Chris Noji and Bryan Bugni combined to race the 4x100 relay and placed seventh with a time of 44.93.

The Kingsmen continue the season with the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3 next Saturday at 10 a.m.
