Nelson Earns All-America Scholar for Second Consecutive Year

NORMAN, Okla. —  For the second consecutive year, Cal Lutheran senior Stefan Nelson was named to the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar award, announced by the Golf Coach Association of America (GCAA).

Nelson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) had a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.82 and graduated with a degree in exercise science. He competed in 16 tournaments with the Purple and Gold and helped the Kingsmen win the CA State Intercollegiate to start this past season. During his junior year, he led the Kingsmen at the SCIAC Championships where he tied for 16th. Nelson is a member of the team that tied the program record of lowest round (281 strokes) and is part of the record-holding team for lowest 54-hole score (857 strokes).

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team's competitive rounds
