NORMAN, Okla. — Jeffrey Perry was named to the 2020 PING All-Region team which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The freshman represented Cal Lutheran on the West team. A total of 96 players across six regions – Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Great Lakes, Central, and West – earned all-region honors for 2020.
"We were very fortunate to have Jeffrey join our team this year," said men's head golf coach Jeff Lindgren. "I had watched him in a couple of junior tournaments last summer and knew he was a complete players with all the skills to be a great player. He proved that he could play at the next level by winning his first college event.
"He continued some great golf through the fall and early spring. His stroke average of 73.07, was the lowest by any freshman in school history. Jeffrey has decided to move on from Cal Lutheran and will play Division I golf this fall. We will miss him on our team and wish him well."
Perry (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) had a standout freshman season as he competed with the top players in the nation. He competed in all six tournaments during the fall and spring.
In his first collegiate tournament, Perry tied for the win at the CA State Intercollegiate and set the program record for 54-holes with 208 strokes. For lowest rounds, he is tied for sixth in program history with a 67. He helped his team set the program record lowest 54-hole score with 857 strokes at the CA State Intercollegiate.
Perry also tied for fifth at the CSUSM Invitational, tied for seventh at the Oglethorpe University Invitational and was eighth at the SCIAC #1. His scoring average for the year was 73.07 and he shot Par or better in four rounds.
Perry helped the Kingsmen to a great start in the SCIAC Championship race as the Purple and Gold sat in third-place after two of the seven rounds.
