Kingsmen 4th, Kyaw Ties for Ninth

REDLANDS, Calif. — Ryan Kyaw shot 2-under-par and placed ninth to lead Kingsmen golf to a fourth-place finish at the Bulldog Classic which was hosted by the University of Redlands.

The tournament was held Saturday and Sunday and featured eight teams and 42 individuals. The teams shot 36 holes on the first day and 18 on the second. The Kingsmen opened the classic with a 4-over-par 292, they shot a 299 in the second and fired a 290 in the third for a total of 881 strokes and 17-over-par. 

Kyaw impressed as he tied for ninth with 2-under-par and 214 strokes. He recorded two rounds of Par or better as he shot a 72 in the first round, a 73 in the second and the fired a 3-under-par 69 in the third as he moved up two spots and into the top-10. He tied for the fourth-most birdies at the classic with 12. 

Stefan Nelson was the second Kingsmen in the top-15. He finished his tournament with 217 strokes at 1-over-par and tied for 13th. Nelson shot a 74 in the first two rounds and match Kyaw with a 69 in the third. Nelson was one of eight golfers to record an eagle and added 10 birdies. 

Jeffrey Perry was the third Kingsmen to finish and placed 21st at 7-over-par. He opened the classic with a 72 and shot a 75 and 76 in the second and third rounds, respectively. He finished with 223 strokes as he tallied the seventh most Pars with 38. 

Drake Jones and Jack Woolslayer rounded out the team score. Jones tied for 25th at 12-over-par (74-78-76-228) and Woolslayer tied for 35th at 22-over-par (81-77-80-238). Jones recorded 10 birdies and Woolslayer shot 33 Pars.

The Kingsmen have one more tournament this fall and are at the Oglethorpe University Invitational on Oct. 7-8.
