REDLANDS, Calif. —Cal Lutheran saw its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) playoff hopes come crashing down as the Kingsmen were defeated by the Redlands Bulldogs 96-74 on Wednesday night.

With the win and a CLU and Whittier loss, Redlands locked up the fourth and final spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The loss sent the Kingsmen to 7-16 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

Kyle Ferreira scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. He showed off his all-around game and added four assists and two steals, which were also team highs. He moved up to 22nd on the all-time scoring list with 1,125 points.

Jared Wulbrun poured in a season-high 19 points as he made 5-of-9 three-pointers. It is the third time this year he has made five three-pointers in a game and he is up to 43 three-pointers on the year. Wulbrun and Jarrett Powers helped move the ball around with three assists each.

Eight more Kingsmen scored, but none scored more than six points. On the other side, Redlands had four players score double-digits. The Bulldogs also pulled down 17 offensive rebounds, forced CLU into 15 turnovers and had 36 points in the paint.

The Bulldogs made four of their first six three-point shots as they jumped out to a 12-4 lead. Midway through the second half, the Kingsmen got the deficit down to a one-possession game. A few plays later, CLU trailed 26-22 with 8:30 left in the half after Ferreira nailed a three. After that, Redlands went on a 14-0 run as they opened up their lead. The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the half and had the advantage at 51-34.

The deficit bloomed to as much as 26 early in the second half. CLU worked hard and would cut the lead to 16, 80-64, before Redlands answered with a run of their own. The Kingsmen weren't able to cut into the lead anymore as Redlands shut down Cal Lutheran and walked off the court with a 96-74 win.

Cal Lutheran returns home for Senior Night. The Kingsmen host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
