Kingsmen Seal 6-3 Win Over Panthers

ORANGE, Calif. – The Kingsmen had their solo game this weekend against the Chapman Panthers on the road and came home with the 6-3 win. The Purple and Gold ran away at the end with three runs in the last two innings.

Alexander Rivas held down the mound for the first six innings for the Kingsmen. He faced 23 batters, threw 49 strikes, and had five strikeouts. Clay Rickerman relieved Rivas in the seventh and stayed there for two innings.

Veteran Rickerman got the win for the Kingsmen and threw 13 strikes across the plate in his 19 throws. To keep the win and snag the save was Matt Campo in the ninth inning. Campo faced four pitchers, threw 10 strikes, and tallied one strike out.

The scoring didn't start for the Kingsmen until the top of the fourth inning when Zach Bullard crossed the plate on a passed ball. Sean Blandino stepped up to the plate and recorded a SAC fly to get Brendan Durfee home.

Ben Wangrin followed Blandino with another SAC fly to send Will Watson home and take the 3-1 lead. The scoring remained quiet until the top of the eight when Zach Lafata sent a double into left field to send Watson across the plate yet again.

Gordon Richardson helped seal the deal in the top of the ninth with a double to left field. This allowed Kyle Reuser to score and make the game 5-3. To finish off the offense was a single from Watson that scored Richardson.

The Kingsmen return to George "Sparky" Anderson field Thursday to host MIT at 3 pm.
