Bufkin, Gardhouse, Lossangoye Earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athletes Carmen BufkinKaitlin Gardhouseand Darvel Lossangoye were selected Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. 

Bufkin was the Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Lossangoye was named on the men's side. Gardhouse was the Water Polo Defensive Athlete of the Week. 

Bufkin (Houston, Texas) was tabbed Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career. Bufkin led the Regals with wins atop both the singles and doubles lineups, nearly posting a clean sweep in singles (6-2, 6-0) after teaming with Reya Maestas to post an 8-2 victory in doubles. Cal Lutheran defeated Lewis & Clark 8-2. 

Gardhouse (Agoura Hills, CA) was named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career. Gardhouse locked down the hole-set against a pair of close games against Division I and II opponents. She significantly disrupted her matchups throughout each game, crucially limiting both to a meager combined 1-for-14 on extra-person opportunities and opening up opportunities for her teammates to swoop in on steals. She also contributed five goals on six shots and recorded a steal.

Lossangoye (Libreville, Estuaire, Gabon) earned Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career. The senior swept the top spots in a 9-0 victory over Lewis & Clark College, winning singles 6-2, 6-3 and doubles 8-2 alongside teammate Jacob de la Paz.
