Kingsmen and Regals Cross Country Named to All-Academic Teams List for Seventh Straight Year

NEW ORLEANS — For the seventh year in a row, both the men's and women's Cal Lutheran cross country teams were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams list, announced on February 14.

To be honored, teams must compete at a NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. The women recorded a 3.31 GPA and the men a 3.27 GPA.

"I'm very proud of both the men's and women's cross country programs for earning their seventh straight All-Academic Awards as a team.  The work they put into their training each and every day and then to put the exact same work into the classroom tells you something about their character, hard work, and dedication," said head coach Matt Lea.

"We talk all the time about how important it is to keep grades up and for us to continue our tradition of being an All-Academic Team.  It is definitely not an easy task or feat and they continue to do it year after year.  I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them."

Overall, 393 division III programs were recognized by the USTFCCCA, 215 women's programs and 178 men's programs. LeTourneau University led the women's side with a 3.85 team GPA and MIT led the men with a 3.78 team GPA.
