ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 27 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Alexa Barnes was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week while Ryan Kyaw earned Male Golfer of the Week.

For the second time this season, Barnes (Olympia, Wash.) garnered the Field Athlete of the Week award. At Friday's Redlands Invitational, the senior claimed the discus title with a 36.23-meter mark and later took second in the hammer at 45.09 meters. The two accolades are her sixth and seventh podium finishes on the year. 

Kyaw (Tarzana, Calif.) earned his first SCIAC Athlete of the Week award. He paced the Kingsmen to a fourth-place finish in the 10-team Schreiner Invitational. The sophomore tied for second overall after shooting a two-under-par 70 in the first round, and a 71 on day to stay three-under for the two-day event and finished with 141 strokes. His round of 70 tied for the second lowest score of the tournament. 

The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
