Ferrier Tied for Second, Kyaw Tied for Fifth, Kingsmen Finish Fourth

VENTURA, Calif. — California Lutheran's Tyler Ferrier fired a two-round score of 2-under-par and finished in a tie for second-place as led the Kingsmen golf team at the SCIAC No. 1 which was held Saturday and Sunday at Olivas Links.

The tournament featured all eight SCIAC teams, except Caltech, and had 48 individuals. The 36-hole meet had a Par of 72.

Ferrier shot a 4-under-par 68 in the first round. It tied for the second-lowest round at the tournament. His impressive first day had him tied for second. On day two, he accounted for 74 strokes, as he finished the tournament in a tie for second. He had a two-day total of 2-under-par (68-74-142).

Ryan Kyaw was right on Ferrier's heels. He tied for fifth as he shot even for the tournament. He had 71 strokes on day one and 73 strokes on day two as he made it two Kingsmen in the top-five. His two-day total was even at 144 strokes.

Drake Jones was next for the Kingsmen and finished in a tie for 14th-place. He shot a 72 on Saturday and a 76 Sunday as he finished at 4-over-par with 148 strokes. Slater Sivage finished in a tie for 29th and was 10-over-par for the tournament (71-82-153).

Zane Jarrett finished the tournament tied for 39th and at 7-over-par (78-79-157). Jake Rosen rounded out the Violet and Gold and was tied for 41st (79-79-158).

La Verne's Hisham Hussein took home the individual title. He was the only player to shoot under 70 for both rounds. He finished at 9-under-par (68-67-135). Ferrier tied with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps's Mason Chiu (74-68-142) and Redlands' Cade Lawson (69-72-142) for second.

CMS and La Verne tied for the team title. Both squads finished at 4-over par. CMS shot 292 in the first round and 288 in the second, for a total of 580 strokes. La Verne went 287 in the first, 293 in the second and combined for 580. Redlands was right behind them in third-place (285-296-581). The Kingsmen finished the tournament in fourth at 12-over-par (282-302-584).

The Kingsmen are back at it next Monday, Feb. 26, at The Master's Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif.
