Meek Voted CoSIDA Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Victoria Rose Meek of Cal Lutheran women's water polo was selected to the 2020 Academic All-America Team by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award features a first, second and third team.

A three-time Academic All-District honoree, Meek wrapped up her career with Second Team Academic All-America. Meek was one of three student-athletes from the SCIAC to Earn All-America.

"Victoria Rose is an incredible young woman," said water polo head coach Craig Rond. "She has been tested in so many various ways, many of which would have driven most people out of the sport and away from the classroom. Not Victoria Rose. She is as courageous as they come and is destined for great things."

Meek (Coronado, Calif.) has made her mark on the program and helped lead the Regals to a 2019 SCIAC Championship and a berth in the National Collegiate Water Polo Championships. On top of the academic honor, Meek was also named First Team All-America by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). In the program record books for a season, she ranks seventh (60) and tied for tenth (56) for drawn ejections. For her career, she has the fourth most drawn ejections with 186.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Meek, a center, had a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in criminology and criminal justice.
