Four Regals Earn All-America

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.Victoria Rose Meek and Lexi Rond were named First Team All-America, Kaitlin Gardhouse garnered Second Team honors, and Jessica Diaz earned Honorable Mention, which was announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

Due to the shortened season, the ACWPC did not select National Players of the Year or Coach of the Year in any division.

The Purple and Gold was one of two schools with two First Team selections and the only squad with four honorees throughout First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention.

Meek (Coronado, Calif.) wrapped up an amazing career with her third All-America honor and this is the second time being on the First Team (also in 2018). She earned Honorable Mention in 2019. Meek tallied the fourth-most drawn ejections in program history with 186. This year, in just 12 games, she added 13 goals, six steals and three assists.

Rond (Oxnard, Calif.) earned Frist Team All-America for the second consecutive season. She has been a focal point in the offense and has stood out during her first two seasons. In 12 games this year, she led the team with 36 goals and 35 drawn ejections. Rond recorded a hat trick in seven games and scores five goals in three games. She added 12 steals and two assists.

Gardhouse (Agoura Hills, Calif.) earned her first All-America honor as she was named to the Second Team. She was third on the team with 14 goals and 15 drawn ejections. She showed off an all-around game and led the team with 16 assists and 18 steals. She was the only Regal to tally double-digits in all four categories.

Diaz (Madera, Calif.) also earned her first All-America honor and was selected for Honorable Mention. She started all 12 games and was third on the team with 17 steals. Diaz helped the Regals share the ball and dished out 13 assists, which were the second highest on the team. She added 12 goals, four field blocks and one drawn ejection.

The Regals were 8-4 overall and 2-0 in conference before the season was cancelled. The Purple & Gold was well on its way to a second straight SCIAC Championship and a spot in the USA Water Polo Division III National Championship.
