THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's tennis won its third straight dual to start the season and defeated William Jessup 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Regals won all three doubles matches and took a big lead in the dual. Carmen Bufkin and Luisa Garcia won 9-7 at the No. 1 spot, Henna Levanen and Reya Maestas were victorious 8-3 at the No. 2 and Lauren Sebastian and Kayla Kling won 8-4 at the No. 3.
Cal Lutheran carried that momentum into singles and clinched the dual immediately. Levanen won 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 6 and Kling took the No.5 spot with 6-2, 6-0.
With the win intact, the Regals also took at the No. 1 and 4 spots. Bufkin claimed the No. 1 spot 6-3, 7-5, and Masteas took the No. 4 spot 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.
The two losses came at the 2 and 3 singles spots. Garcia fell 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 2 and Mina Ahmadi fell 7-5, 6-0, at the No. 3.
The Regals continue the season on Saturday. Cal Lutheran is at UC Santa Cruz on Saturday and first serve is set for 10 a.m.
