ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Corey Karen, Darvel Lossangoye and Charlie Spina represented Kingsmen Tennis on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Team.
Cal Lutheran and Chapman competed in a head-to-head SCIAC series of four contests during the Spring of 2021 as the lone participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kingsmen won three of four meetings between the sides, with the score in all four matches finishing 5-4. The winning of the team placed three athletes on the All-SCIAC team and the other team placed two. Both Regals earned All-SCIAC for the first time. All three Kingsmen earned All-SCIAC for the first time.
Karen (Camarillo, Calif.) was at the No. 2 singles spot for every dual. He helped the Kingsmen to a 3-1 record against conference opponent, Chapman, winning all four of his matches. The junior ended the season on a five-match win streak. Altogether, he was 5-4 and 3-1 at home. In doubles, he competed at the No. 1 spot, with many different partners. He won two of his doubles matches against Chapman.
Lossangoye (Libreville, Estuaire, Gabon) competed at No. 2-5 singles spots for the Kingsmen. After starting out 0-6, The junior ended the season strong, on a four-match win streak. He was 3-1 against his Chapman opponents and clinched the winning point twice. He played mostly in the No. 2 doubles spot, but also saw action at the No. 3. He was 5-4 overall, 4-0 at home and 2-2 against Chapman.
Spina (Valencia, Calif.) competed at the No. 1 singles spot in every dual for the Kingsmen. Going up against top-notch competition, the sophomore was 4-6 overall. He was victorious in his last match with Chapman, 6-3, 6-2, as the Purple and Gold took the season series. In doubles, Spina and partner Sean Yaghoubi went undefeated, winning all four matches at the No. 3 spot. Overall, he was 5-4 in doubles play, competing in all three spots.

Kingsmen Tennis Faces Tough Competition in Biola to Start 2021 Campaign
