Kingsmen Fourth After First Leg of SCIAC Championship

LONG BEACH, Calif. —Cal Lutheran men's golf finished SCIAC #1 in fourth place with a score of 30-over-par on Sunday afternoon.

This was the first leg of the SCIAC Championship. Teams compete in two rounds at SCIAC #1 and #2 and then three rounds at the SCIAC Championships. All seven rounds count for the team total for a SCIAC Championship.

The teams competed at the El Dorado Golf Course with 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The Kingsmen, the 24th team in the nation according to Golfstat.com, are ahead of No.7 Redlands and nine strokes behind second place. The Kingsmen sit in fourth place with 606 (298-308) total strokes.

Jot Singh led the way and tied for third with 1-over-par. He shot a 1-over-par 73 in round one, fired a 72 in round two and finished with 145 strokes. 

Derek Hahn made it two Kingsmen in the top-10. He recorded a 71 in the first round, but followed it up with a 76 in the second and had 147 strokes.

Hudson Solters placed 17th with 9-over-par and 153 strokes (77-76). Blake Fitzhugh tied for 30th with 161 strokes (77-84). JP Guimaraes Jr. rounded out the Kingsmen and tied for 34th with 164 strokes (79-85).

Up next for the Kingsmen is the Cal Baptist Invitational. Cal Lutheran will head to Mira Loma, Calif., on February 20-21.
