FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. —Cal Lutheran men's golf competed in its final fall event and tied for fourth at the Royal Lakes Invitational with a team score of 6-over-par.
The tournament was hosted by Oglethorpe University and featured 22 teams and 124 individuals. The teams shot 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday and the Par was 72.
The Cal Lutheran team, consisting of JP Guimaraes Jr., Jot Singh, Hudson Solters and Tanner Stewart, fired a 3-under-par 285 in the first round and was tied for second. The second round did not go as well as the first as the Violet and Gold shot a 297 to end with 582 strokes.
The 36-hole team score of 582 strokes is tied for eighth lowest in program history while the round of 285 is tied for the 10 th. The Kingsmen recorded the second lowest scoring average at the tournament and scored 4.11 on Par 4s.
Guimaraes Jr. and Singh tied for the lowest score on the team as they tied for seventh. The duo shot a 142 to finish their tournament at 2-under-par. Guimaraes recorded a 2-under-par 70 in the first and a 72 in the second. Singh fired a 69 in the first and a 73 in the second. Singh tied for the second lowest stroke average on Par 5 holes and tallied 4.38. Guimaraes Jr was the only Kingsmen to make an Eagle.
Solters was the next Kingsmen to finish. He also hit under-par on the first day with a 71. He followed it up with a 76 and totaled 147 strokes, putting him at 3-over-par, and in a tie for 31 st. Solters tied for the second most Pars at the tournament with 26.
Stewart rounded out the team score and Adam Cartozian competed as an individual. Stewart totaled 151 strokes (75-76) to finish at 7-over-par and in a tie for 52 nd. Cartozian was two strokes back at 153 (82-71) and tied for 63 rd.
After three fall tournaments, the Kingsmen now look toward the their spring season. Cal Lutheran resume action on Feb. 13-14 at the CSUSM Fujikara Invitational.
