Neufeld-Griffin Breaks 3,000-Meter Run School Record, Cox Runs Nation’s Sixth-Fastest Time in 400-Meter Hurdles; Kingsmen, Regals Look to Qualify for NCAA Championships

MOORPARK, Calif. — Cal Lutheran track and field sent eight student-athletes to the Moorpark Open to compete for better times to qualify for the NCAA Championships on Friday afternoon.

Evan Cox did just that. He raced to the sixth-fastest time in the nation for the 400-meter hurdles with a blazing time of 53.25 seconds. 

Connor Neufeld-Griffin broke the program record for the 3,000-meter run by four seconds. He won the event with a time of 8:46.15. Sebastian Sawyer was five seconds behind him, 8:51.78, and now has the fourth-fastest time in school history.The duo went first and second in the event. 

Neufeld-Griffin also ran the 1,500-meter run and clocked the 22nd-fastest time in the nation. It was the third-fastest time in CLU history with 3:53.39.  

Olivia Becker competed for the Regals. She clocked 5:02.16 as she finished second in the 1,500-meter run.
