Kingsmen Head to SCIAC Championships

PASADENA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's golf team is competing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships which will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Brookside Golf Club.

The champion of the SCIAC is determined by three tournaments, SCIAC No. 1, SCIAC No. 2 and SCIAC Championships. The championships will have live scoring for each round. You can the scoring as well as rosters and standings on the Tournament Central.

The Kingsmen enter the championships tied for fifth-place with 1,224 strokes. They are tied with Chapman and 44 strokes back of the leader, La Verne (1,180 strokes). CLU fired 604 strokes at the No. 1, but then shot 620 strokes at the No. 2. Redlands sits in second with 1,181 strokes, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is third with 1,185 and Occidental is fourth with 1,214.

Standouts for the Violet and Gold thus far have been Drake Jones, Ryan Kyaw, and Jake Rosen. Rosen was the runner-up at the SCIAC No. 2 with a two-round total of 4-over-par (72-74-146). Jones tied for 19th at the event and was 14-over-par (79-77-156). 

Kyaw led Cal Lutheran at the SCIAC No. 1 as he shot a two-round total of 4-over-par (71-77-148) and tied for 12th. Jones turned in two top-20 performances as he finished the event at 5-over-par and in a tie for 16th (73-76-149).
