FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The California Lutheran men's golf team placed 10th with a two-round score of 19-over-par (298-297-595) as the Kingsmen competed in Oglethorpe Invitational at the Royal Lakes Golf Club.
The tournament featured 18 teams and 102 individuals. The golfers shot 18 holes Monday and then 18 holes Tuesday. The par of the course was 72.
The Kingsmen turned in the fourth-best Par 3 scoring at 3.15. Cal Lutheran was also sixth in Par 4 scoring with 4.15 and 10th in Par 5 scoring with 5.25. CLU finished the tournament with the most Pars with 122. The Kingsmen also tallied 20 Birdies.
Ryan Kyaw, Stefan Nelson and Jake Rosen all tied for 26th with a two-round score of 4-over-par. Rosen tied with the most Pars at the tournament and recorded 30. Nelson was third with 28 Pars. Kyaw had the most birdies on the team with six.
Kyaw and Nelson both shot a 1-over-par 73 on Monday and followed it up with a 75 on Tuesday for a total of 148 strokes. Rosen shot the opposite and tallied the 75 Monday and then the 73 on Tuesday.
Drake Jones rounded out the team score with 151 strokes and tied for 44th. Jones shot a 77 on Monday. He moved up eight spots on the second day and fired a 74 on Tuesday.
Jackson Murrell also competed for the Kingsmen placed 73rd. He turned in a two-round score of 12-over-par with 156 strokes (79-77).
Greensboro (298-286-584) and Babson College (291-293) tied for first at 8-over-par. Hampden-Sydney College rounded out the top-three at 11-over-par with 587 strokes (292-295). Oglethorpe's Jacob Arnett won the event at 8-under par (67-69-136). York College's Tyler Newton was the runner-up at 5-under-par (69-70-139). Sewanee's Rommy Olivier turned in the third-best score at 3-under-par (71-70-141).
This was the final tournament of the fall season for the Kingsmen. Cal Lutheran's next event is the spring and is Feb. 4-5 for the Cal State University San Marcos Tournament.
