Kyaw Ties for Second, Kingsmen Fourth in Texas

KERRVILLE, Texas Ryan Kyaw tied for second as he led the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Schreiner Spring Shootout at the Comanche Trace Golf Club. 

The tournament was hosted on Monday and Tuesday by Schreiner University. The golfers shot 18 holes on both days and the Par was 72. The event featured 10 teams and 65 individuals.

Kyaw tied for second as he fired a 3-under-par 141. He tied for the second best round at the tourney with a 2-under-par 70 on Monday and followed it up with a 71 as he finished with a total of 141 strokes. It is his best finish at a tournament this year. 

Stefan Nelson, Jake Rosen and Drake Jones rounded out the team score as the trio tied for 22nd with 155 strokes. Nelson shot a 77 and then a 78 while Rosen and Jones shot the opposite and recorded a 78 then a 77. 

Drew Christofferson also competed for the Kingsmen. He tied for 33rd and just one stroke back of the trio as he tallied 156 strokes.  

The Violet and Gold had their second best finish of the year as they tied for fourth. The Kingsmen shot 302 strokes on Monday and 303 on Tuesday to finish with 605 strokes. They were just 14 strokes back of the winning team, St. Thomas (Texas).

Cal Lutheran has a practice day tomorrow before jumping back into tournament play. The Kingsmen and Chapman will dual on Wednesday at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
