Kingsmen Fifth After SCIAC #2; Rosen Places Second at Event

INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's golf team finished fifth, led by Jake Rosen as he placed second at the SCIAC #2 which was hosted by Whittier at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms on Saturday and Sunday. The Kingsmen shot a 52-over-par (309-311-620) at the event.

The SCIAC #2 is the second leg of the SCIAC Championships and consisted of two rounds. The golfers shot 18 holes on both days. The first leg was on Feb. 23-24 and CLU sat in sixth after the first two rounds.

The Kingsmen moved into a tie for fifth with Chapman after four rounds of golf with 1,224 strokes. La Verne is in first with 1,180, Redlands is second (1,181), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is third (1,185) and Occidental is fourth (1,214).

Rosen placed second at the event with a two-round score of 4-over-par. He shot a 1-over-par 72 on Saturday and then a 74 on Sunday to finish with 146 strokes.

Drake Jones had the second highest score for the Kingsmen and he tied for 19th at 14-over-par. He shot a 79 on day one and followed it up with a 77 on day two for a total of 156 strokes.

Ryan Kyaw tied for 29th at 18-over-par (82-78-160), Craig Thorlakson (79-82-161) and Jack Woolslayer (79-82-161) tied for 32nd at 19-over-par and Stefan Nelson placed 37th at 22-over-par (81-83-164).

The final three rounds are at the SCIAC Championships which will be held at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Calif., on April 18-20.
