Regals Soccer Earns Team Academic Award From United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team was honored for their hard work in the classroom this past year by being awarded the 2019-20 United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award.

The Regals combined for a team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.40, making it their 10th award in the last 11 years. A total of 556 women's teams earned the Team Academic award.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.

On the pitch, Regals soccer posted an overall record of 13 wins, three losses and four ties. A signature win came at home, as the Purple and Gold knocked No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer 3-1. Their resume won over the NCAA Championship committee as the Regals earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, making it their second appearance in three years.
