Soto, Rivas Earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced Cal Lutheran's Alexa Soto and Andre Rivas as their Athlete of the Week honorees on Monday afternoon.

Alexa Soto (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) was selected as the women's soccer defensive player of the week for her outstanding display of goalkeeping in the Regals' 3-1 win over No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer. The sophomore tallied 11 saves in the victory, just one short of her season-high. Many of her stops were absolutely class, keeping her team out in front against the talented Sagehen attackers. Soto also shutout La Verne for the first 45 minutes of CLU's 4-1 in over the Leopards.

Andre Rivas (Escondido, Calif.) led men's water polo to a 2-0 week in conference action that featured an 8-4 win over Occidental, and an 11-7 victory over La Verne. Against La Verne, the junior posted 10 saves and an assist, while adding 15 saves and a helper in the win over the Tigers as the Kingsmen have now won nine straight games.
