Kingsmen Basketball 2019-20 Slate Set

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Division III basketball can start its first practice today, and with it comes the announcement of the 2019-20 Kingsmen basketball schedule.

The new season also brings a new-look coaching staff as Head Coach Russell White is ready to lead Kingsmen basketball through a schedule that features strong non-conference opponents, the Cal Lutheran Holiday Classic and 16 conference games.

The Kingsmen open the season on the road and will be up North to face Whitworth on Nov. 14 and power house Whitman on the 16. Whitman has been to the NCAA postseason tournament each of the past three years.

Cal Lutheran continues the season on the road with Johnson & Wales and Colorado College before coming back to Gilbert Arena for their home opener. Your first chance to see the Kingsmen in person is on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. against Hamilton College. After another home match, this time against Mount St. Vincent on Dec. 1, the Kingsmen jump into conference.

The SCIAC grind for the Violet and Gold begins at home on Dec. 4 as the Kingsmen welcome Chapman with tipoff at 7 p.m.. After an away game with Whittier, CLU will host its annual Holiday Classic.

The Kingsmen start the Holiday Classic on Dec. 28 with Rosemont at 5 p.m. The other men's game includes Messiah and Bethany Lutheran. On Dec. 30, the two winning teams will play each other and the two losing teams will play.

Cal Lutheran plays a home and away game with all eight teams in the SCIAC. The next part of the season features two three-game stretches at home. The first set of three games is Occidental (Jan. 11), Caltech (Jan. 15) and Pomona-Pitzer (Jan. 18) with the next set of three being UC Santa Cruz (non-conference, Jan. 25), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Jan. 29) and Redlands (Feb. 1).

The final home game for the Kingsmen is senior day. The Violet and Gold will honor the senior class on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. as they take on Whittier in their season finale.

The top four teams in SCIAC then advance to the postseason. The semifinals are on Feb. 28 and the championship is the 29. The No. 1 and 2 seeds host the semis with the lowest remaining seed hosting the final. The SCIAC winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
