Kingsmen Jump Three Teams, Now Sit Third

COMMERCE, Calif. — California Lutheran's Ben Brewer, Jonah Hobbs, Andreas Nybo and the relay team of Zach Zamecki, Thelen McKinna-Worrell, Liam McCallum and Jacob Frigard earned All-SCIAC honors as the Kingsmen moved up to third-place after day two of the SCIAC Championhsips at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center.

CLU jumped three SCIAC opponents as the Violet and Gold currently sit in third-place with 239 points. The Kingsmen moved past Chapman, Occidental and Redlands.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Brewer and Hobbs took home silver and bronze, respectively. Brewer was 33-tenths of a second behind the winner as he finished with a time of four minutes and 26.99 seconds. Hobbs was right after him in third with 4:32.30.

Nybo received his All-SCIAC honor as he placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:50.66.

The team of Frigard, McCallum, McKinna-Worrell and Zamecki took home third in the 200-yard free with 1:23.68.

Zamecki and Frigard also competed in the 50-yard free. Zamecki just missed All-SCIAC honors as he placed fourth with a quick time of 20.88. Frigard came in sixth with 21.07.

Pomona-Pitzer is leading the men's side as the Sagehens have 397.5 points. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is in second with 349. Cal Lutheran rounds out the top-three with 239. 

The SCIAC swimming and diving championships continue Friday and will resume at 9 a.m. You can watch the championships live and see the whole schedule at thesciac.org.
