THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving programs have released their 2017-18 schedule that includes a trio of meets inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center (SAC).
The season starts at home for the Kingsmen and Regals when the teams host the Cal Lutheran Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10:00 a.m. The season opener will serve as the lone tune-up event before Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition begins on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Chapman. Teams dive in at 10:30 a.m. A week later, the student-athletes travel to Occidental for a 10:30 p.m. first whistle in the second straight SCIAC meet of the year.
December, tentatively, begins with a trip to Northern California where the Kingsmen and Regals will swim and dive against UC Santa Cruz at 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m., respectively, on Dec. 1 and 2.
A month-long hiatus for the winter holidays concludes on Jan. 6 when the Fifth Annual Chris Knorr Invitational gets underway at 2:00 p.m. Student-athletes will be back on the deck on Sunday, Jan. 7 to wrap up competition at the two-day event with the first event scheduled at 4:00 p.m. The meet also serves as the final non-conference event of the season.
SCIAC competition continues on the road on Jan. 13 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before the Violet and Gold return to the SAC for senior day against Whittier on Jan. 20. Rounding out the regular season on the road, CLU travels to Pomona-Pitzer to face the Sagehens and Caltech Beavers on Jan. 27 and concludes conference dual-dates on Feb. 10 at La Verne against the Leopards and Redlands Bulldogs. All SCIAC meets begin at 10:30 a.m.
The culmination of the season is set to take place at the SCIAC Championships in Commerce, Calif. Feb. 21-24 with preliminaries and finals taking place each of the four days. Qualifying divers will advance to the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals at a location yet to be determined on March 2-3 while any swimmers selected to swim at NCAA Division III National Championships will do so from March 21-24 in Indianapolis, Ind.
