Regals Claim Four Events at SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet #1

CLAREMONT, Calif. Daisy Clark, Ana Cordoba, Kendall Guidetti and Veronica Redpath all claimed an event to lead Cal Lutheran women's track & field at the SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet #1 on Saturday.

At the meet, CLU took on La Verne, Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands. The Regals defeated La Verne, but fell to Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands. 

On top of the event winners, Zaria Opara moved in the record books and now sits sixth in the Discus with 38.90 meters and 10th in the hammer with 41.86. 

Clark and Guidetti won the javelin and long jump, respectively, for the second straight meet. Clark threw for a distance of 32.90 meters and Guidetti recorded a jump of 5.76. Cordoba raced to victory in the 200 meters as she clocked a time of 26.28 seconds. Redpath ran long distance and took the gold in the 1500 meters with 4:54.61. 

The Regals finished runner-up in three events on the day. Opara was second in the discus with a throw of 38.90 meters, Jenna Boyd was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles and the relay team of Boyd, Samantha Carranza, Cordoba and Guidetti combined for a time of 49.63.  

Making the podium for the Regals and finishing third was Guidetti in the 100 meters (12.48 seconds), Megan Pollock and Kayla Cross tied for third in the pole vault (2.90 meters), Morgan Snyder in the triple jump (11.01 meters) and javelin (26.57), and Opara in the shot put (9.85 meters) and the hammer (41.86 meters).

The Regals are back in action on March 14 for the Oxy Distance Carnival/Spring Break Classic in Los Angeles.
