CLAREMONT, Calif. — In the first meet of the season with the whole team competing, the Cal Lutheran women's track & field team placed in the top-10 eight times, with two runner-up finishes, at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All Comers on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Kendall Guidetti and freshman Daisy Clark led the way and took home second in their respective event. Guidetti made the podium for the long jump with a distance of 5.67 meters while Clark tallied a length of 36.26 meters in the javelin. In her first collegiate event, Clark broke into the Cal Lutheran top-10 list and sits in the fifth spot.
Guidetti added a second top-10 finish as she raced to a seventh place finish in the 100-meter dash. She crossed the finish line with 12.64 seconds.
Senior Morgan Snyder and freshman Zaria Opara both turned in multiple top-10 finishes. Snyder also competed in the javelin and threw with a distance of 30.08 meters. She followed it up by taking seventh in the triple jump with 10.80 meters. Opara competed in the trio of throwing events and was sixth in the shot put with 10.19 meters, ninth in the hammer throw with 3.05 meters and 14th in the discus 32.59 meters.
The final top-10 finish came from senior Megan Pollock. She competed in the pole vault and placed ninth as she got to a height of 3.05 meters.
The Regals competed in six more events on the day. Freshman Jenna Boyd was 11th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.68), freshman Ashley Kersey was 14th in the 100-meter hurdles (16.79), senior Ana Cordoba was 15th in the 200-meter dash (26.66), Veronica Redpath was 19th in the 3,000-meter run (10:54.53), Denaya Wickett was 20th in the 400-meter dash (1:05.66) and Sarah Briscoe was 27th in the One Mile Run (6:21.78).
Cal Lutheran has a few weeks off as the Regals prepare for their first taste of SCIAC action. The Regals compete in the SCIAC Multi Dual Meet #1 on March 7 at 10 a.m.
