Three Regals Earn All-SCIAC

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) women's track & field teams were announced Wednesday and Kendall Guidetti, Alexa Barnes and Morgan Snyder earned recognition after their performances at the SCIAC Championships.

Guidetti is a sophomore from Oak Park, Calif., and competes in jumping events and sprints. She claimed the long jump title and received her third career All-SCIAC honor. It is the second straight year she has won the long jump. She jumped a distance of 5.51 meters. She was the only Cal Lutheran athlete to win an event at the Championships.

A junior from Olympia, Wash., Barnes competes in throwing events. She was the runner up in the discus. She recorded a distance of 38.12 meters. It is her first All-SCIAC honor. She ranks in the top-10 in the CLU record books for the discus and hammer throw.

Snyder, a sophomore from Woodland Hills, Calif., participates in jumping and throwing events. She garnered her first All-SCIAC award as she finished third in the triple jump. She put up a distance of 11.19 meters. That mark is the second-best mark in program history.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Tyra Abraham and Emily Bassett were named the Track and Field Athletes of the Year, respectively. Occidental's Jade Newkirk earned Newcomer of the Year, Pomona-Pitzer's Kayla Paraiso garnered the Jennifer Stary Award and CMS coach Glenn Stewart and his staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year.
