THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Regals faced off against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas Saturday afternoon at Poulson Tennis Center, but got swept by their opponents 9-0 in straight sets.
Christie Kurdys and Gianna Cupo paired up for the Regals on court one, but fell 8-3 to their opponents. Sarah Seeman and Annette Sousa came the closest to taking a point on court two with their 8-4 performance, while Nicole Neumann and Jade Moore rounded out the doubles competition finishing 8-1.
Behind 3-0 heading into singles, Cupo on court three and Neumann on court five both took their respective opponents to 6-5 in set one before eventually falling behind 7-5 in the first set and 6-2 in the second.
Moore also notched points against her opponent in singles, but fell 6-3 and 6-0 to the Athenas. Seeman and Sousa both finished 6-0, 6-0 and Kurdys was retired after 5-0 in set one.
The Regals return home Friday, April 20, in a match up against the Cal Tech Beavers at 3 p.m. PST.
