Regals Fall to Judges

THOUSAND OAK, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Gianna Cupo won her second straight sengles match, but the women's tennis team fell to Brandies University 8-1 Wednesday afternoon in the Poulson Tennis Center.

The Regals dropped to 0-2 and the Brandeis Judges improved to 3-0.

Cupo improved to 2-0 in the No. 3 singles spot as she won her match 6-2, 6-2. Sarah Seeman put up a tough fight in the No. 2 spot but ultimately fell 2-6, 7-5, 6-10. Christy Kurdys, Annette Sousa, Nicole Neumann and Jade Moore also competed in singles play, but took losses.

In doubles, Kurdys and Cupo battled hard in the No. 1 spot, but fell 6-8. Seeman and Neuman fell 3-8 in the No. 2 spot, while Sousa and Moore lost in the No. 3 spot 1-8.

The Regals are at home Saturday as they welcome Bates College to the Poulson Athletics Center.
