Kurdys Named Second Team

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Christie Kurdys earned Second Team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors, which was announced Friday afternoon following a vote by the league's member head coaches. 

Kurdys, a junior from Boca Raton, Fla., represents the Regals on the All-SCIAC teams for the second straight year. She was also named to the Second Team as a sophomore. She competed at the No. 1 singles spot all season long. She won four matches, including two in the SCIAC. She also played at the No. 1 for all of the doubles matches. She mostly teamed with Gianna Cupo and the duo recorded six overall wins. They won three doubles matches in the SCIAC. At the 118th Ojai Annual Tournament, Kurdys advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division III Invitational Singles. 

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Catherine Allen was named the Athlete of the Year, Chapman's Alisa Ogranovich earned Newcomer of the Year and Chapman's head coach Will Marino and his staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year.
