Regals Complete First Season in Program History

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – After much anticipation was built around the hiring of Head Coach Laura McIntyre and the inception of Cal Lutheran's women's lacrosse program, the team saw its season come to an abrupt end due to concerns over COVID-19.

The Regals (0-6, 0-6 SCIAC) made great strides in their first year of competition as all members of the squad made their collegiate debuts.

A monumental moment took place on Feb. 19 in the first half of Cal Lutheran's home opener when Carly Boccia found the back of the net to score the first goal in Regals lacrosse history.

CLU managed to score in four of their six contests in 2020 and tallied a total of 10 goals during their opening season. Against SCIAC foe Chapman, the Purple and Gold scored a season-high six goals. Cameron Mendez netted five goals by herself in the game, which currently stands as the program record.

All 13 members of Cal Lutheran's roster hope to come back stronger and with a great deal of experience for their 2021 campaign. With seasoned returners as well as a talented group of newcomers recruited under Coach McIntyre, the Regals are poised for a season of improvement when they take the field next February.
