THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran faced off against a strong Chapman Panthers team at William Roland Stadium. In a hard-fought game, the Regals scored a program high of six goals. Their offensive momentum was not enough to fend off Chapman as Cal Lutheran fell 22-6.

Throughout the first half of this afternoon's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup, the Regals (0-5, 0-5 SCIAC) had several aggressive offensive possessions. Carrying this into the second half, Cal Lutheran found several scoring opportunities.

A goal from Sarah Mendez, and a total of five goals from Cameron Mendez, on just 10 shots, resulted in the highest scoring game Cal Lutheran has had this season. Skylar Purvis also added two shots on goal.

The first goal for the Regals was scored by Cameron Mendez, at ten minutes into play. And just several minutes later, Mendez scored the second goal on the day. The first half would end with the Regals being down 13 to 4. After an aggressive second half from the Purple and Gold, The Chapman Panthers (2-4, 2-3 SCIAC) came out stronger on the offensive end.

Goalie Carly Boccia finished the first half with three saves and stayed in goal in the second half. She finished with 11 saves on the afternoon for the Regals.

Cal Lutheran had several good defensive efforts and forced two shot clock violations on Chapman, one in each half of play. It was an aggressive game as the Regals had eight fouls and the Panthers added 10 of their own. Cal Lutheran also had fewer turnovers than the visitors with five to their eight.

Chapman capitalized on more scoring opportunities with 37 shots over the Regals 14 shots. As Cal Lutheran converted on 5 of 8 free position shots, the Panthers were able to take advantage on 7 of 9 free position shots.

Regals lacrosse will look to continue their efforts on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. as they face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on their home turf.
