Women’s Golf Opens 2021 Season with SCIAC #1

VENTURA, Calif. —  The Cal Lutheran women's golf team hit the course for the first time in 2021 and took on Redlands and Chapman at the SCIAC #1. The Regals finished 73-over-par with 649 strokes (317-332).

The event was hosted at Olivas Links with the teams shooting 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The SCIAC #1 use to be part of the SCIAC Championship, but is a separate tournament this year, and will only count towards head-to-head for the three competing teams.
 
Leading the way for the Purple and Gold was junior Grace Cornejo as she tied for seventh. She fired a 5-over-par 77 on the first day and followed it up with an 80 on day two for a total score of 157. 

Sophomore Claire Cornejo was next and placed 10th with a two-day score 15-over-par (80-79-159). She was followed by sophomore Tara Ng in 12th (+20, 80-84-164), freshman Haley Brown in 15th (+25, 80-89-169), sophomores Grace Mitchell (+38, 92-90-182) and Anna Bello (+38, 87-95-182) tied for 18th and sophomore Elizabeth King was 20th (92-91-183).

Women's golf continues the season with their own CLU Regals Invitational on March 15-16 at the Moorpark Country Club.
