Regals Golf Makes Move on Day Two to Finish Third

MOORPARK, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's golf team fired a 18-hole score of 327 on Tuesday as the Regals jumped Chapman to claim third place at their own CLU Regals Invitational. CLU recorded a 328 on Monday and finished with 655 strokes.

The CLU Regals Invitational featured four teams, Biola, Cal Lutheran, Chapman and Redlands, and 25 individuals. The golfers played 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday. 
 
Sophomore Claire Cornejo was the top finisher for the Regals. She was consistent and shot a 78 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday, giving her 157 strokes for the tournament, and tied for sixth.

Sophomore Tara Ng was four strokes back and in tenth with 161 strokes. She tallied a 77 on Monday and 84 on Tuesday. Junior Grace Cornejo made the big move on Tuesday as she helped the Regals move past the Panthers. She shot a 90 in round one and improved with a 78 in the second and finished in a tie for 14th-place. 

Also competing for the team score was freshman Haley Brown and sophomore Grace Mitchell. Mitchell finished in a tie for 18th-place (85-86-171) and Brown was 20th (88-86-171). 

Elizabeth King and Anna Bello were playing individually for the Purple and Gold. King fired an 80 on day two, improving on her day one score by over 20 strokes. She shot a 102 on day one and tallied 182 strokes to finish in 24th. Bello tallied a two-day total of 189 strokes with rounds of 95 and 94 and was 25th.  

The Purple and Gold are back in action on March 27-28 for the Redlands Invitational at The S Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
