BEAUMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran Women's Golf placed third at SCIAC #2 with a score of 48-over-par (328-336-664). The event was held Saturday and Sunday at Tukwet Canyon Champions Course.
The tournament included CLU, Chapman and Redlands, and featured 19 individuals. The Regals' team score was compiled from Haley Brown, Claire Cornejo, Grace Cornejo and Tara Ng.
C. Cornejo led the Regals and tied for fifth at 16-over-par. She began the tournament with an 80 over the first 18. She followed it up with another 80 and ended with 160 strokes.
Ng finished second on the team and tied for 10th at the tournament. She stayed consistent shooting an 82 on day one and an 83 on day two to card 21-over-par with 165 strokes.
Brown and G. Cornejo rounded out the team score. Brown placed 12th at 24-over-par 80-88-168) and G. Cornejo tied for 15th at 27-over-par (86-85-171)
Anna Bello competed as an individual. She shot 49-over-par with 193 strokes (94-99) and tied for 18th.
The Regals had the best average on Par 3s with 3.47 with 15-over-par. C. Cornejo led the field in Pars and totaled 22. Brown flashed her short game and recorded a team-high three birdies.
Leading the teams at Par 3s was G. Cornejo with an average of 3.38, fourth-best at the tournament. C. Cornejo led the team on Par 4s (4.55) and Par 5s (5.13).
Up next for the Regals is the SCIAC Championship. The tournament is April 25-27 at Mountain Meadows Golf Club in Pomona, Calif.
