ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Ariana Mendoza and Mia Onesto were named to the 2021 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Softball Team which the conference announced Thursday morning. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, California Lutheran, Chapman, La Verne and Redlands were the lone participants for the SCIAC during the Spring of 2021. The Regals eliminated La Verne from the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, before falling to Chapman, just missing their shot at playing for a conference championship.

Mendoza (Granada Hills, Calif.) earned her first All-SCIAC honor. She was second in the SCIAC with three home runs and third in RBI with 18. The sophomore was also sixth in total bases (30) with an on-base percentage of .435. She recorded a batting average of .333 and a slugging percentage of .588. She recorded four multi-hit games and tallied three hits in a game twice. She had a season-high five RBI in a game. She tallied a RBI in 50-percent of the gamesto lead the Regals. The catcher/infielder had a fielding percentage of .929 with 21 put outs and five assists. 

Onesto (Dana Point, Calif.) garnered All-SCIAC honors for the first time in her career. The junior led the Purple and Gold with 19 hits and had a batting average of .317. She tied for the team lead with four doubles and struck out just one time in 60 plate appearances. She recorded five multi-hit games, with a four-hit game and two three-hit games. She was seventh in the conference in hits and sixth in doubles. She had an on-base percentage of .354 and a slugging percentage of .383. Primarily at first base, Onesto had a fielding percentage of .963 with 99 put outs and four assists.
