Regals Bested by Redlands in Doubleheader

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran softball fell twice as Redlands won both games of a double header, 6-1 and 11-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Taryn Faull was in the circle for the first game. After a clean first inning, and an out in the second, the Bulldogs got to Faull. Redlands tagged Faull with three earned runs in the inning and Faull day was done early.

Sienna Perez came in as the relief pitcher. She looked good during her 5.2 innings, allowing just five hits and three earned runs, while striking out two.

The Regals bats could not provide the run support as Redlands took the first game 6-1. Cal Lutheran's lone run came in the second inning as Natalie Winokur singled, scoring Megan Dillon. Natalie Luna added a double and Madison Gunn recorded a sacrifice hit.

Meghan Henry got the call in game two. Except for a 4-run third, she kept the Bulldogs under wraps. However, the support from the Regals' bats was handled by the Redlands pitchers.

The Bulldogs got to Henry in the sixth, as the Regals brought in Jackie Diaz. Henry went 5 innings and Diaz finished the sixth. The Panthers added five more runs in the inning.

Cal Lutheran's lone run came in the third inning as Ariana Mendoza was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Redlands handled the Regals the rest of the game and won game two 11-1 in six innings.

The Regals end the season with a series against La Verne. The Regals start the three-game series on Friday at home with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
