VENTURA, Calif. — Jett Legacion was 10th and Claire Cornejo tied for 11th to lead Cal Lutheran women's golf to a fourth place finish at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship.
Cal Lutheran hosted the championship which was held Sunday through Tuesday at Olivas Links. The SCIAC Championship event was the third leg that makes up the seven rounds of deciding the 2023 SCIAC Champion. The Regals shot 35-over-par and finished with 899 strokes. They shot 305 in the first, 293 in the second, and 301 in the third. It was the lowest 54 hole team score in school history. Their seven round total was 2,150 strokes.
The championship consisted of eight teams and 40 individuals. The SCIAC individual champion was decided at the event. Legacion was 10th at 5-over-par. She recorded a 77 on the first day. She followed it by firing an Even 72 on the second and third day. She recorded a total of 221 strokes, the lowest in program history.
Cornejo was the next Regal and tied for 11th at 6-over-par. She shot a 73 on day one and 72 on day two. She carded a 77 in round three to give her 222 strokes, the second lowest in program history.
Tara Ng made it three Regals in the top-20. She tied for 17th at 11-over-par. She carded a 78 in the first round and improved with a 72 in the second. She shot a 77 in the third and had 227 strokes, tied for the third lowest in program history.
Ashley Zook tied for 21st and Anna Bello was 26th. Zook finished at 13-over-par with 229 strokes (77-77-75) and Bello recorded 22-over-par with 238 (80-78-80). Zook's total is the fourth lowest and Bello's is the 10th in program history.
The Regals are ranked No. 24 in the Golfstat Top-25 poll. With the SCIAC Championship over, they await the decision from a committee for the NCAA Championship.
