Regals Fourth, Ng Sixth at SCIAC #2

POMONA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's golf team competed at the SCIAC #2 on Saturday and Sunday. It is the second of three legs that make up the scoring for a SCIAC Championship. 

The teams played 18 holes on each day at Mountain Meadows Golf Club. The Par for the course is 70. The tournament consisted of eight teams and 40 individuals. 

Competing for the Regals was Claire Cornejo, Jett Legacion, Grace Mitchell, Tara Ng, and Ashley Zook. They finished in fourth place with a score 62-over-par. The Regals shot 321 strokes behind in round one and improved with a 301 in round two for a total of 622. 

Ng led the way and finished sixth at 7-over-par. She shot a 76 over the first 18 holes and fired a 71 in the second. She recorded 147 strokes. Legacion made it two Regals in the top-10 as she tied for seventh. She carded a 9-over-par with 149 strokes. She fired a 77 in the first round a 72 in the second. 

Zook tied for 22nd and Cornejo tied for 25th, making it four Regals in the top-25. Zook was 22-over-par and had 83 strokes over the first 18 holes and 79 over the second. Cornejo was two strokes behind her and shot an 85 and then a 79. 

Mitchell rounded out the Regals lineup. She finished 33rd at 37-over-par. She shot 92 on day one and improved with an 85 on day two. 

Next up for the Regals is the UC Santa Cruz Invitational. The tournament starts on April 8.
